A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Nights Engineer to join a high volume manufacturing environment in Markham Vale. This role is suited to an experienced engineer who is confident working within a fast paced production setting and enjoys working on automated machinery and complex equipment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of production equipment across the site. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, the Nights Engineer will be responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance activities to ensure downtime is minimised and production targets are consistently achieved.

This position will involve diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults on high speed machinery, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will also assist in identifying root causes of recurring issues and implementing long term solutions to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.

The ideal candidate will have strong fault finding skills across electrical, mechanical, and control systems, along with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and PLC diagnostics. A proactive approach to health and safety and a commitment to engineering standards are essential for this opportunity.

Key responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering support across breakdown, PPM, and TPM activities
  • Carry out reactive and preventative maintenance to agreed engineering standards
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on production machinery
  • Complete electrical and mechanical installations within your skill set
  • Identify parts and equipment required for repairs and improvements
  • Support continuous improvement activities to reduce downtime and improve reliability
  • Use PLC I/O systems as a diagnostic tool for fault finding
  • Ensure site assets are maintained to a high and reliable standard
  • Make informed decisions regarding breakdown solutions and project completion
  • Support the achievement of engineering KPIs across the site
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with risk assessed procedures
  • Accurately book out parts to maintain effective stock control
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to support operational efficiency
Skills and experience required:Essential:
  • HNC qualified or higher with a minimum BTEC Level 3 in an engineering discipline or equivalent
  • Previous experience within a production or service environment
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault finding skills
  • Demonstrable electrical and mechanical installation experience
  • Experience using PLC I/O systems as a diagnostic tool
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Strong understanding of health and safety procedures and standards
  • Logical and calm approach to problem solving under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible attitude towards working schedules and operational demands
  • High attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality standards
