An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Conversion Manager to join a fast paced manufacturing operation in Markham Vale. This Conversion Manager role is focused on driving productivity, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across key conversion machinery including 924, Gopfert, Mastercut, and DRO equipment.
The successful Conversion Manager will play a critical role in improving machine performance through speed increases, downtime reduction, set up time optimisation, and process improvement initiatives. Working closely with production, engineering, planning, and leadership teams, the Conversion Manager will identify opportunities to improve productivity, workflow, equipment utilisation, and factory performance.
This Conversion Manager position will involve analysing production data, leading continuous improvement projects, conducting speed trials, and implementing lean manufacturing techniques to support operational targets. The Conversion Manager will also be responsible for supporting long term performance improvements by embedding sustainable processes and developing a strong productivity focused culture across the site.
The ideal Conversion Manager will have a strong background within manufacturing, packaging, print, or FMCG environments and will be confident leading operational improvement projects in a high volume production setting. This Conversion Manager role requires excellent communication, leadership, and problem solving skills, with the ability to influence teams and deliver measurable operational results.
Key responsibilities- Work with the wider team and Production Director to identify priority focus areas and contribute to continuous improvement strategies
- Analyse production data to identify trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities
- Develop tactics, project plans, and timelines to support productivity improvements
- Influence and engage cross functional teams to support operational success and improvement initiatives
- Support investment planning and prepare payback cases for equipment and process improvements
- Drive factory volume growth from 46 MSM to 55 MSM through operational improvement activities
- Conduct speed trials and performance testing across conversion machinery
- Lead SMED activities focused on reducing set up times and improving machine efficiency
- Work closely with engineering, production, and planning teams to improve operational performance
- Gather feedback from operators and engineers to support continuous improvement activities
- Share productivity knowledge and best practice across operational teams
- Communicate progress updates and improvement recommendations to leadership teams
- Ensure performance improvements are sustainable following project completion
- Support skill development discussions with relevant managers to improve operational capability
- Previous experience within packaging, print, FMCG, or manufacturing environments
- Experience working with high speed conversion machinery such as 924, Gopfert, Mastercut, or DRO equipment
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies including SMED, RCA, Fishbone analysis, Gemba walks, Six Sigma, and waste reduction techniques
- Proven experience driving productivity improvements, downtime reduction, and operational efficiency within a production environment
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production data and implement performance improvement strategies
- Experience leading improvement projects from planning through to implementation and sustainability
- Ability to influence and engage teams across production, engineering, planning, and senior management
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive and results driven approach with strong organisational skills
- Formal Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma qualification
- Experience supporting capital investment planning and payback analysis
- Previous experience coaching and developing operational teams
- Knowledge of production planning, WIP management, and workflow optimisation
