About the Role:
An established and growing main contractor is seeking a proactive and experienced HSQE Advisor to support the safe and compliant delivery of refurbishment, fit-out, and selected new build projects across healthcare, education, and commercial sectors. The business frequently operates as Principal Contractor under CDM and delivers projects within live or partially occupied environments. This is a hands-on, site-facing position suited to someone who thrives in operational settings and enjoys working closely with delivery teams. This is not a purely compliance-based or desk-bound role. You will be office based and site based, mainly in the Home Counties region.
Role Purpose:
The HSQE Advisor will:
- Support the safe delivery of projects across multiple sectors
- Ensure full compliance with UK health, safety, quality, and environmental legislation
- Provide practical, solutions-focused advice to site teams
- Promote accountability, best practice, and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety:
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits
- Ensure compliance with:
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- CDM Regulations 2015
- Working at Height Regulations
- Control of Asbestos Regulations
- PUWER and LOLER
Quality:
- Support inspection and test plans (ITPs)
- Monitor quality compliance during strip-out, reinstatement, and new build phases
- Assist with fire compartmentation and compliance checks
- Support QA processes and handover documentation
Environmental:
- Monitor waste management and environmental controls on site
- Support ISO 14001 compliance
- Promote sustainable working practices
Governance & Systems:
- Support ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 audits
- Maintain compliance documentation and records
- Contribute to continuous improvement of management systems
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
- 3β5+ yearsβ experience as an HSQE Advisor within construction
- Experience in refurbishment and/or fit-out projects
- Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Experience working within live or partially occupied environments
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Healthcare or education sector experience
- Exposure to roofing works
- ISO auditing experience
- GradIOSH or working toward Chartered status
