Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled HGV Trailer & Bodywork Technician with welding experience to join our client’s team in Bolton. This role focuses on the overhaul, repair, and refurbishment of HGV trailers and associated bodywork. Ideal for technicians with hands-on experience in vehicle body repair, fabrication, and trailer servicing—especially those confident with welding, but not necessarily coded.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and refurbish HGV trailers and vehicle bodywork to a high standard.
Carry out MIG welding and basic fabrication tasks on trailer components and frames.
Perform general bodywork tasks including cutting, grinding, panel beating, and fitting new components.
Inspect trailers for structural and cosmetic damage, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Work from technical drawings, repair instructions, or verbal briefs.
Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.
Coordinate with workshop colleagues to meet job deadlines.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an HGV Bodywork or Trailer Technician.
Practical welding skills (e.g. MIG) suitable for structural and cosmetic repairs.
Understanding of trailer systems and construction (e.g. curtainsiders, box bodies, flatbeds, tail lifts).
Ability to carry out both minor and major body repairs.
Comfortable using hand tools, welding equipment, and workshop machinery.
