An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester to join a busy workshop operation covering Sunderland and the surrounding areas. This role involves carrying out MOT testing, vehicle servicing, diagnostics and repairs on a range of vehicles to ensure they meet safety and roadworthiness standards. It would suit a qualified Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester who is confident working independently, enjoys hands-on technical work and is looking for consistent weekday hours with competitive hourly pay on monthly contracts.
Key responsibilities:
- Carrying out MOT tests in line with DVSA standards and regulations.
- Identifying, diagnosing and resolving mechanical and system faults across a variety of vehicles.
- Inspecting, maintaining and repairing vehicles to ensure reliability and roadworthiness.
- Completing job cards, maintenance records and associated paperwork accurately and clearly.
- Stripping down and rebuilding vehicle components using technical guides and manufacturer specifications.
- Replacing engines, transmissions and other major vehicle systems when required.
- Conducting routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Supporting general workshop duties as required to assist the wider team.
Skills and experience required:
- A clean UK driving licence.
- Proven experience working as a Vehicle Technician and MOT Tester.
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good understanding of DVSA standards and vehicle safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- High attention to detail when completing repairs and documentation.
