We are currently looking for experienced Class 1 (CE) Container Drivers to join our team based in Castleford, West Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for reliable, professional drivers seeking ongoing day work with a well-established operation.

The Role

As a Class 1 Container Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection and delivery of shipping containers to and from ports, distribution centres, warehouses, and customer sites across the UK. Your duties will include:

  • Collecting and delivering loaded and empty containers.
  • Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
  • Ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately, including delivery notes and PODs.
  • Following planned routes and delivery schedules while maintaining excellent timekeeping.
  • Communicating with the transport office regarding delays, issues, or changes to schedules.
  • Securing loads and ensuring all containers are transported safely and in accordance with road traffic legislation.
  • Completing port collections and deliveries while adhering to site and port procedures.
  • Operating within Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
  • Providing a professional and courteous service to customers at all delivery and collection points.
  • Keeping vehicles clean and reporting any maintenance requirements promptly.

Requirements

  • Full UK Class 1 (CE) Driving Licence.
  • Container driving experience is essential.
  • Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card.
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Maximum of 6 penalty points for minor offences only.
  • Good knowledge of Drivers' Hours and Working Time Regulations.
  • A strong understanding of road safety and compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
