Here at Venator we are working with an amazing business within the ecommerce and retail space. They require an RFID Technician - this role will suit someone who has some hand tooling experience that would ideally like to forge a career in the RFID space. You will be fully supported and teaching/learning is provided within the role to enable you to become an accomplished RFID Technician.
Purpose of the Role
The RFID Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day support, operation, and optimisation of the RFID scanning estate across etrack and customer environments. The role focuses exclusively on RFID hardware, scanning infrastructure, asset registration, and customer usage, ensuring that deployed scanners and portals operate reliably, data is captured accurately, and customers are supported effectively in their use of RFID technology. This role does not include responsibility for corporate IT infrastructure, end-user computing, or internal IT support.
Key Responsibilities
- RFID Operations & Support
- Act as first-line operational support for RFID scanning issues raised by customers or internal teams
- Triage RFID-related incidents and service requests, resolving where possible and escalating to the Senior RFID Engineer where required
- Monitor scanner and portal performance to ensure consistent read quality, uptime, and data integrity
- Respond to hardware faults and initiate repairs or replacements in line with agreed SLAs
- RFID Hardware & Asset Management
- Prepare, configure, and dispatch handheld RFID scanners to customer sites
- Maintain the RFID hardware asset register, ensuring:
- Accurate ownership and location records
- Correct customer allocation
- Licences, warranties, and maintenance status are up to date
- Manage SIM cards, connectivity status, and data usage for mobile scanners
- Coordinate repairs, returns, and replacements with hardware suppliers
- Deliver customer-facing training on RFID scanners and associated software (remote and on-site)
- Support customers in correct scanning processes and operational best practice
- Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for customer RFID queries, helping bridge technical capability with real-world operations
- Support new RFID deployments including:
- Assisting with site surveys
- Coordinating access and logistics
- Supporting third-party installers
- Assisting Senior RFID Engineer with RFID Reader builds
- Fixed line scanners
- Portal scanners
- Handheld Scanners
- Trade and Maintenance infrastructure
- Support accurate asset registration and scanning workflows that underpin commercial charging models
- Assist in identifying scanning gaps, data quality issues, or operational inefficiencies
- Provide feedback into product, process, and deployment improvements
- Operate in accordance with company security, governance, and compliance policies
- Adhere to Health & Safety requirements when working in manufacturing, warehouse, and customer environments
- Support audits or reviews relating to RFID assets and deployments
