This role is ideal for an experienced forklift engineer who wants to move away from full time hands on work while still using their technical knowledge every day. You will act as the main point of technical support for field engineers, helping resolve faults, diagnose issues, and keep jobs moving efficiently. You will work closely with engineers, workshop leadership, and manufacturers to ensure technical problems are solved quickly and correctly.

The Role
As a Technical Support Engineer, you will provide technical guidance to forklift engineers in the field. You will support fault finding, software issues, and complex diagnostics, while also helping to organise work and identify recurring technical problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to engineers by phone, email, and in person.
- Assist with fault finding, error codes, wiring diagrams, and diagnostics.
- Support engineers with service and diagnostic software.
- Work with the Workshop Manager to identify common faults and trends.
- Recommend fixes, improvements, or training based on recurring issues.
- Liaise with manufacturers when additional technical support is required.
- Occasionally attend customer sites to support complex or critical breakdowns.
- Help coordinate and organise engineering jobs where technical input is needed.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a forklift engineer or similar plant equipment engineer.
- Strong understanding of electrics, hydraulics, and diagnostics.
- Confident reading wiring diagrams and interpreting error codes.
- Experience using service and diagnostic software.
- Strong problem solving ability and clear communication skills.
- Comfortable supporting engineers rather than carrying out full time repairs.
- Organised, calm under pressure, and practical in approach.
