THE OPPORTUNITY

VELUX is one of the world's most recognised and loved brands in roof windows and skylights — a business with a genuine mission: transforming the spaces people live and work in through light, air, and sustainable design. Backed by a foundation with a long-term ownership philosophy, this is a company that thinks in decades, not quarters, and genuinely means it.

The Great Britain & Ireland market is entering an exciting new chapter. The team is strong, the strategy is clear, and the commercial foundations are in place. What the market needs now is an inspirational leader who can drive execution with energy and consistency — rallying a talented team around a shared mission and building real momentum across the professional partner ecosystem.

This is a rare opportunity to lead with genuine autonomy, a compelling brand story, and a talented team behind you. For a leader who is motivated by purpose as much as performance, who wants to shape a market rather than simply manage one, and who thrives in an environment where entrepreneurial thinking is genuinely encouraged — this role is worth a conversation.

What you will lead

You will have full P&L accountability for the GBI market, leading management team of Field Sales, National Sales, Sales Development, Customer Service and Marketing. The role is primarily field-based, with regular presence at the Glenrothes back office. You will own the full commercial agenda, while operating as the senior voice of VELUX externally: at industry conferences, with housebuilders, architects, policy makers, and in the media.

You will orchestrate and continuously refine execution across the business, ensuring strategy translates into effective, efficient deployment across both B2B and B2C channels — bringing the full organisation together to perform at its best. This includes close collaboration with the global sales excellence team, aligning local execution with best practice and ensuring insights from the GBI market feed back into the broader Group agenda. You will bring commercial discipline to every part of the operation — pricing, margin, and performance tracking — ensuring execution is not just consistent, but measurably effective.

What we offer

  • Driving execution through people: You will be in the field alongside your sales managers, present with pro partners and customers, and visible across the organisation. You lead from the front — translating strategy into action, setting the standard through your own presence, and bringing the best out of a capable team.
  • Building a performance culture: You will invest time in developing your people, enhancing performance, and creating an environment where execution is celebrated and accountability is real.
  • Driving category growth in a tough market: You will deepen relationships with the professional partner ecosystem — installers, architects, housebuilders, and dealers — and scale initiatives already showing traction.
  • External presence and public affairs: VELUX has a genuine story to tell about healthy homes, light, and sustainable living. You will be the senior face of the brand in GBI — speaking at industry events, engaging government and policy makers on building standards, and representing the business in national press and media. Presence, charisma, and confidence on an international stage matter here.
  • Long-term thinking alongside near-term delivery: One of the defining features of this market is that decisions made today may take several years to fully show their impact. You will need to hold both horizons simultaneously — executing with urgency in the short term while shaping the market and building relationships that pay off over a longer arc.

What you will bring

There is no single route into this role. We are open to leaders from a range of industries, including building products, construction, consumer goods, and other commercially driven sectors. What matters most is your ability to lead through people, drive performance, and navigate complexity in a demanding market environment.

You are a commercially minded business leader with a strong track record of delivering results in medium-sized organisations. You combine strategic thinking with a hands-on leadership style and are comfortable spending time with customers, partners, and teams on the ground. Rather than leading from a distance, you are visible, approachable, and actively engaged in the business.

You understand how to operate across multiple channels and stakeholders, balancing commercial priorities with long-term relationship building. Whether presenting to an executive board, engaging with customers and partners, or representing the business externally, you communicate with credibility and confidence.

The right candidate is analytical and data-savvy — able to connect the dots between actions and outcomes, spot what's working and what isn't, and use that insight to make better decisions faster.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring:

  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing field sales organisations.
  • A strong record of execution in commercially complex businesses, with full P&L responsibility.
  • Experience operating in B2B and B2B2C environments, including trade, dealer, or professional partner channels.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to translate strategy into results.
  • The resilience and pragmatism to succeed in a competitive and fast-moving market.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to identify opportunities, even in challenging conditions.
  • Experience engaging with government stakeholders, industry bodies, media, or public affairs activities would be a distinct advantage, as would experience representing a business at conferences and external events.
  • While experience from the construction or building products industry is welcome, it is not a prerequisite. We are equally interested in leaders who can bring relevant commercial expertise and a fresh perspective from adjacent sectors.

Why this role

  • A genuinely meaningful brand: VELUX transforms the spaces people live and work in. When you understand the business fully, the mission is compelling.
  • Real autonomy: this market is run as its own entity. You own the agenda. Innovative thinking is actively encouraged, not just tolerated.
  • A values-driven ownership structure: VELUX is backed by a foundation with a long-term perspective. Short-termism is not in the DNA.
  • A clear mandate: the foundations are in place. This is about execution and growth, not restructuring from scratch.
