Velora is a UK-based digital health venture building a governance-first, compliance-based clinic operating system and verified booking infrastructure for a specialised, fast-growing healthcare segment. We’re building a high-trust workflow platform designed for real-world clinical operations. We’re pre-seed and pre-fundraising, with structured validation completed, prototypes already developed, and a clear build plan. We’re supported by Imperial College London’s Enterprise Lab.
The role involves looking for a genuinely hands-on Founding Software Engineer (Tech Lead) (0→1) to own MVP delivery end-to-end, from first principles to pilot clinics, and to establish strong engineering foundations early. This is a builder-first, player-coach role. You will ship heavily, make high-judgement architectural decisions, and set a high bar for security, reliability, and engineering quality while leading full-stack engineers to deliver the MVP on time.
Responsibilities:
- Own MVP delivery end-to-end: architecture → implementation → deployment → iteration cadence
- Build a workflow-heavy product with production-grade integrity (security, permissions, data correctness)
- Establish engineering standards early: repo hygiene, CI/CD, testing discipline, observability, controlled releases
- Lead delivery with 1–2 engineers: technical direction, task breakdown, PR reviews, and quality bar-setting
- Collaborate tightly with the founder on scope, prioritisation, and delivery planning
- Over time, shape the early technical hiring plan and mentor early engineers as the team grows
You’re a strong fit if you:
- Have shipped and operated production software end-to-end (build → deploy → support)
- Can build workflow-heavy B2B SaaS systems with good judgement and reliability
- Have a security/privacy mindset (GDPR-aware; high-trust defaults)
- Prefer tight scope + high quality over feature sprawl and “big bang” builds
Technical expectations:
- Strong full-stack capability (TypeScript/Node or Python; React/Next or equivalent)
- Cloud deployment experience (AWS/GCP), CI/CD, observability, and security hygiene
- Comfort operating in high-trust / regulated contexts (practical)
Preferred:
- Experience in regulated/high-trust domains (healthtech, fintech, security/identity, payments)
- Familiarity with multi-tenant B2B SaaS patterns, RBAC design, audit/event logging, and integrations
- BSc/MSc/PhD in CS / Software / Computer Engineering / Computing (AI/ML welcome where you’ve shipped production full-stack systems)
Structure: Equity + salary commence post-close. We’re pre-raise; start is expected post-close (likely ~4–6 months). Details shared with shortlisted candidates.
How to apply (DM preferred): Please send: CV or LinkedIn, 2–3 examples of systems you’ve shipped (links ideal), a short note (max 200–300 words): how you’d scope and deliver a demoable end-to-end slice in the first 3–4 weeks, plus the top 3 delivery risks you’d de-risk first. If you’re looking for a non-hands-on CTO role, fractional work, or a primarily advisory position, this won’t be a fit.
