Velora is a UK-based regulated digital health venture building a clinic operating system and verified booking infrastructure for a specialised, fast-growing healthcare segment. We’re building a secure workflow platform designed for real-world clinical operations. We’re pre-seed and pre-fundraising, with structured validation completed, prototypes already developed, and a clear build plan. We’re supported by Imperial College London’s Enterprise Lab.
We’re looking for a genuinely hands-on technical founder-level leader (Founding CTO or Founding Engineer, CTO-track) to own MVP delivery end-to-end, from first principles to pilot clinics, and to establish strong engineering foundations early. This is a builder role. You ship. You make high-judgement architectural decisions. You set a high bar for security, reliability, and engineering quality.
What you’ll own:
- A workflow-heavy product built for production-grade integrity (security, permissions, data correctness)
- Engineering standards from day one: repo hygiene, CI/CD, testing discipline, observability, controlled releases
- Tight collaboration with the founder on product decisions, prioritisation, and investor-grade delivery planning
- Over time, shaping the early technical hiring plan and leading early engineers as the team grows
In the first 4–6 weeks, you will ship:
- A company-owned repo and a working deployment pipeline
- A thin but real end-to-end vertical slice of the core workflow (demoable, running)
- Clean foundations: auth/roles, a sensible core data model, basic auditability, disciplined release controls
Requirements:
- Have shipped real products end-to-end
- Can build workflow-heavy B2B SaaS systems with good judgement and reliability
- Have a security/privacy mindset (GDPR-aware; high-trust defaults)
- Prefer tight scope + high quality over feature sprawl and “big bang” builds
Technical expectations (flexible, but modern):
- Strong full-stack capability (TypeScript/Node or Python; React/Next or equivalent)
- Cloud deployment experience (AWS/GCP), CI/CD, observability, and security hygiene
- Comfort operating in high-trust / regulated contexts (practical)
Nice to have:
- Healthtech / digital health, or regulated domains (fintech, security), or workflow-heavy B2B SaaS
- Prior founding engineer / early-stage (0→1) experience
Structure: Equity-first at this stage; salary follows fundraising. Details shared with shortlisted candidates.
How to apply (DM preferred):
Please send:
- CV or LinkedIn
- 2–3 examples of systems you’ve shipped (links ideal)
- A short note (max 200–300 words): how you’d scope and deliver a demoable end-to-end slice in the first 3–4 weeks, plus the top 3 delivery risks you’d de-risk first.
There is a note asking applicants to consider; if you’re looking for a non-hands-on CTO role or a primarily advisory position, this won’t be a fit.
