Velocity UK Ltd are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical / Assembly Fitter to join a small manufacturing team based in Hendon, assembling and maintaining bespoke road repair machinery. This is a hands-on role involving the build of new machinery for both the company fleet and external customers, alongside maintenance and repair work to ensure vehicles remain safe, reliable and operational nationwide. Occasional travel may be required to assist with breakdown support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assembly of bespoke road repair machinery
- Integration of machinery onto HGV vehicles
- Maintenance and repair of fleet machinery and equipment
- Fault finding, diagnostics and rectification of mechanical issues
- Working closely with the wider engineering team to improve systems and resolve engineering problems
- Recording repair and maintenance information accurately
- Supporting workshop housekeeping and general factory maintenance
- Assisting customers and colleagues with breakdowns and technical issues
- Carrying out repairs both onsite and offsite when required
- Supporting and training new team members where necessary
Requirements:
- Recognised qualification or proven experience in mechanical fitting/assembly
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles and fault finding
- Experience using hand tools, drilling, grinding and light fabrication methods
- Experience carrying out preventative maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical systems
- Good communication skills with a flexible and proactive attitude
- Full UK driving licence essential
- Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office
Desirable Experience:
- HGV licence
- Experience with diesel/petrol engines, compressors or high-volume blowers
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
Further Details:
- 40-hour working week
- Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 16:00
- Friday: 07:00 – 13:00
- Overtime available at enhanced rates
