Velocity UK Ltd is looking for an experienced Electrical Fitter / Vehicle Electrician to join our growing team in Sunderland. This is an excellent opportunity to work on the build, installation, maintenance and repair of specialist road‑repair machinery operating throughout the UK. You’ll play a key role in both new machine builds and the maintenance of our fleet, working within a skilled and supportive engineering team.

Working Hours

40 hours per week

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm
  • Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Wiring 12V and 24V DC vehicle systems
  • Installing control panels, relays, switches and solenoids
  • Wiring lighting, warning beacons and safety systems
  • Installing and fault‑finding sensors and PLC‑controlled equipment
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and engineering drawings
  • Testing completed systems and diagnosing faults
  • Repairing and maintaining specialist machinery and vehicles
  • Supporting machine breakdowns both on‑site and across the UK when required
  • Working alongside the engineering team to resolve engineering issues and improve systems
  • Recording repair and maintenance work accurately
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safety

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as an Electrical Fitter, Vehicle Electrician or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of 12V/24V DC electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
  • Proven fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
  • Recognised electrical qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Practical, hands‑on approach with strong attention to detail
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills

  • HGV Licence
