About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Document Writer to join a team supporting engineering and data centre operations for a global financial services organisation.

The role will focus on producing clear, accurate and professional technical documentation that supports engineering and data centre teams and ensures working practices align with company policies, procedures and standards.

The successful candidate will be confident working with complex technical information and translating it into clear, accessible documentation for a range of audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation in line with organisational standards.
  • Research, write and edit new and existing technical content.
  • Produce processes, procedures, workflows, standards, quick reference guides and training materials.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear and engaging content.
  • Work closely with engineers and subject matter experts to gather and understand technical information.
  • Create and maintain document templates and documentation databases.
  • Review existing content and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent and aligned with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Create visuals and diagrams to support technical documentation.
  • Maintain a consistent style and tone across all documentation.
  • Work with teams to identify suitable documentation repositories and support centralised information management.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support on effective business communication and documentation.
  • Contribute to meetings, briefings, reporting and other business communications.
  • Support training and development activities where required.

About You

We are looking for someone with professional experience in technical documentation, technical writing or a similar technical environment.

You will ideally have

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field.
  • A technical authoring or technical writing qualification would be advantageous.
  • 5+ years' experience working in technical documentation or a similar role.
  • Experience producing technical documentation and procedural content for different audiences.
  • The ability to quickly understand complex technical subjects and communicate them clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience working closely with engineering or technical teams.
  • Experience creating diagrams and visual content to support documentation.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Experience using Microsoft Visio.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience managing content through Share Point.
  • Experience with Jive pages or similar content-management platforms.
  • Previous experience working within data centres, engineering, technology or critical environments.
  • Working Environment

The role is based in Canary Wharf, London, with a flexible working arrangement. Remote working will be the primary model, with attendance at site required when necessary
