My client is a global leading provider in facilities management and they are looking for a lead electrical engineer to oversee the maintenance of all building services, for one of their prestigious blue-chip contracts. The purpose of the job will be a technical coordination point for the day-to-day maintenance activities, including Specialist Subcontractors, Suppliers and other support teams. One of the key activities involves the role of authorised person for Electrical/Mechanical Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of technical engineers, including performance reviews, mentoring, and managing annual leave.
  • Operate all M&E systems within the building in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including HV Electrical/Mechanical isolations/operations) as per requested by SAP, having due regard to business risk and energy use.
  • Make recommendations for improvement and provide concise technical reports when required.
  • Ensure all Specialist Subcontractors visits are conducted in line with approved Method Statements, Risk Assessment and other required documentation.
  • Ensure Specialist Subcontractor worksheets are signed off where necessary, that quality of work has been inspected and recommendations are communicated to the Technical Manager.
  • Maintain minimum staffing arrangements at all times.
  • Accurately close and report all reactive work orders within defined SLAs, including precise recording of any critical spares/stock items used during these tasks.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and client meetings as requested, in conjunction with CBRE management.
  • Champion and promote QHSE compliance activities, such as Hazard/Near Miss Reporting and regular Toolbox Talks.
  • Conduct toolbox talks to the shift team when required.
  • Take ownership of areas (including all plant rooms), ensuring they are brought up to and maintained to the required show site standards.
  • Evaluate and escalate any potential risks, with an assessment of impact, probable causes and mitigation opportunities.
  • Manage all planned maintenance tasks, ensuring the engineering team deliver PM work allocation on a month-by-month basis and ensuring they are closed within the defined SLAs.
  • Adhere to all current and Critical Engineering Management policies and Procedures and take an active approach in the continuous improvement of these procedures.
  • Escalate any issues that affect availability, H&S and Security issues of the site.
  • Provide quotations to maintain the critical spares and parts for day-to-day activities.
  • Undertake tasks as required by Engineering Leaders in accordance with experience and competencies.
  • Carry out electrical switching operations on systems within Change Control Process and authorization limits to agreed switching programmes.
  • Lead in shift training by scenarios and lessons learnt; knowledge from O&M's & site drawings.
  • Operate critical plants where authorised.
  • Carry out Compliance Monthly and yearly check with team.

Person Specification

  • Electrical qualifications from a recognised institution (C&G / NVQ).
  • Experience working in a similar role.
  • Strong supervisory experience with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Proficient in CAFM systems and E-Log Book management.
  • Experience in compiling risk assessments and quotations.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Knowledge of water treatment & HVAC.
  • Knowledge of M&E services, BMS systems, and statutory compliance.
