Technical Manager
Location: Essex (with site visits to London)
Salary: Up to £85,000
A leading large-scale developer based in Essex is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join the team on a landmark £106m mixed-use development. The scheme includes a sports ground, community centre, and residential accommodation and is classed as a Higher-Risk Building (HRB). The project has successfully passed Gateway 2, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to take a key technical leadership role as the development moves into construction.
The Role
- Lead the technical delivery of a major mixed-use scheme from post‑Gateway 2 through construction
- Act as the technical lead ensuring full compliance with HRB and Building Safety Act requirements
- Manage and coordinate the consultant design team
- Oversee detailed design, technical approvals, and design change control
- Maintain building safety information and the “golden thread”
- Work closely with construction and commercial teams
- Attend design team meetings and carry out regular site visits to London
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Technical Manager within residential or mixed‑use development
- Strong understanding of HRB projects and Gateway processes
- Excellent knowledge of UK Building Regulations and compliance
- Confident managing consultants and complex technical packages
