After a series of project wins, an exciting opportunity has arisen at one of the UK's largest main contractors. They are looking to recruit a Design Manager to join their fit‑out and refurbishment division. A highly successful company working on some of the UK's most prestigious construction projects with an annual turnover of more than £2bn and over 2000 employees nationwide. They cover a range of sectors including Retail, Education, Commercial, blue‑lights, custodial, Data centres and Distribution.
The initial projects you would be working on are large refurbishments healthcare projects with values between £5‑£15m; experience working on refurbishment and healthcare projects previously is essential.
Key Accountabilities- Manage the proposals
- Produce and negotiate the project‑specific designer agreements, scope of works and the design management plan, ensuring they are agreed and fully understood by all parties
- Ensure the project design is reviewed, mitigating Health & Safety issues
- Produce and manage a realistic design programme & information‑required schedule satisfying design, procurement & construction requirements
- Provide input into the design team PDRs
- Support the implementation of Continuous Improvement programmes and innovation
- The successful individual will have worked for a main contractor or as a lead architect on fit‑out or refurbishment projects previously
- Blue‑lights experience or similar government frameworks projects would be preferred but aren’t essential
- The individual will have been the lead Design Manager or Architect on projects previously and will have experience taking projects from inception through to completion
- Excellent IT skills, numeracy and good written communication skills are required
