An established Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their NorthWest regional team. With a strong pipeline of secured work across the Manchester area, you will play a key role in delivering projects from residential, commercial, and public sector frameworks. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from pre-construction through to completion, within a business known for quality delivery, stability, and long-term career development.
You will take responsibility for managing the design process across projects of varying scale, ensuring effective coordination between consultants, clients, and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design process from tender through to project completion
- Manage consultants and design teams effectively
- Ensure all design information is delivered on time and to a high standard
- Identify and mitigate risks within the design process
- Liaise with stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, and site teams
- Contribute to value engineering and buildability reviews
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in a Design Manager or similar role within a contractor, subcontractor, or consultancy environment
- Background in any sector (residential, commercial, healthcare, education, etc.)
- Strong technical understanding with the ability to manage and resolve complex design issues
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Working towards or holding a professional accreditation (CIAT, RIBA, CIOB) is desirable
