An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a well-established main contractor on a £6 million roofing refurbishment project in East London.
This is an 18-month freelance contract, offering the opportunity to manage a flagship social housing scheme from start to completion.
For those seeking a longer-term future, there is also the potential to move into a permanent role upon successful completion of the project, with a strong pipeline of secured work already in place.
The Project
You'll take the lead on the refurbishment of seven occupied residential blocks, delivering works over an 18-month programme. The scope includes:
- Traditional and specialist roofing works
- Installation of green roof systems
- Balcony refurbishment works
- Managing works within occupied properties while maintaining high standards of resident liaison, quality, and health & safety
Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day site activities on a busy occupied refurbishment project.
- Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, and material deliveries.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with programme and quality expectations.
- Maintain excellent health & safety standards and site compliance.
- Liaise with residents, client representatives, and the Contracts Manager throughout the project.
- Complete site documentation, inspections, and progress reporting.
- Drive productivity while maintaining exceptional customer service within occupied environments.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager delivering roofing, external refurbishment, or planned maintenance projects.
- Experience working on occupied social housing refurbishment schemes.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and quality management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Valid SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid at Work certificates.
