Capital One is looking for a Senior Employment Lawyer to be based in its UK legal team, supporting both International and US HR and Employment legal teams. The role involves providing legal advice on UK employment law to existing Capital One businesses and helping integrate new businesses and workforces into the UK footprint. The Senior Employment Lawyer reports to the Senior Director, Employment and Benefits Law and collaborates with a global group of employment lawyers.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on all aspects of Capital One’s compliance with employment law, including preparation and outcomes of mergers and acquisitions.
- Advise on hiring practices, employment contracts, terminations, benefits, workplace policies, and employee relations, and draft related documents when necessary.
- Act as a UK employment law knowledge hub, delivering training across the organisation, including HR functions.
- Support the management of employee disputes, including employment tribunal claims.
- Develop strong relationships with International HR teams to provide strategic support.
- Partner with HR risk and compliance stakeholders to identify, navigate, and report on HR‑related risks.
- Advise on data protection issues affecting associates and Capital One, including processing of employee data and handling Data Subject Access requests.
- Provide regulatory advice in the region, covering EU AI, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements as needed.
- Collaborate with external counsel to support the delivery of legal advice and support.
