We are searching for a Senior Director of International Regulatory Legal to guide the growth of our Global Payment Network Business-including Discover Network, Diners Club International, and PULSE Network.
As a leader within our legal team, you will navigate our business through global payments regulations.
You will lead our international payment regulation function, anticipating market shifts and clearing the path for expansion and innovation.

What you'll do
- Guide our international expansion by providing actionable regulatory expertise that turns legal hurdles into competitive advantages
- Own and execute a high-impact international regulation strategy and delivery roadmap
- Partner closely with Risk and Compliance officers to ensure comprehensive support
- Champion thought leadership on cutting-edge industry trends and regulatory shifts
- Engage and oversee outside legal counsel as needed in an effective and efficient manner
- Represent the enterprise with external parties, including customers, regulators, partners and industry trade groups
- Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring global legal expectations, ensuring Capital One remains a leader in compliance excellence and risk management
- Provide awareness and training on compliance risk and related matters, specifically around regulatory expectations
- Qualified solicitor with substantial years of post-qualification experience
- Significant regulatory experience within the payments industry required; experience engaging with regulators preferred
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey compliance risks to stakeholders at all levels, including external regulators
- Leadership and credibility to challenge assumptions, drive meaningful change, and effectively balance trade-offs between risk and returns to achieve business objectives
- Strong business judgment, analytical skills, and the ability to build and leverage relevant networks inside and outside the organisation.
