Velindre Cancer Centre is a purpose built hospital, providing world class cancer care to the people of South East Wales. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our radiology workforce in this widely respected Cancer service, to work within a team of diagnostic Radiographers for the provision of a high quality and diverse range of radio diagnostic imaging services for patients attending Velindre Cancer Centre.

As a Band 6 Diagnostic Radiographer in Velindre Radiology, you will have the opportunity to work in a small and friendly department and participate in major imaging modalities including MRI, CT and Digital Radiography. Previous experience at working in MRI or CT and Digital radiography is essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

To have excellent knowledge surrounding radiographic techniques and procedures as well as broad knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, specifically in the field of Oncology as a speciality.

Competent (with annual assessment) in multiple imaging modalities

To perform a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality images ensuring patients receive a radiation dose as low as reasonably practicable when producing these images.

To provide support and reassurance to patients, taking into account their physical and psychological needs.

To work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients, for example by sharing specialist knowledge and expertise.

To be able to recognise clinically significant conditions and signs of deterioration, escalating where necessary to appropriate support teams.

Qualifications & Skills

  • BSc (Hons) or Diploma of the college of Radiographers: Diagnostic Radiography
  • Current or previous NHS experience
  • Cannulation trained
  • RadIS / PACS competent
  • Understand of duties and responsibilities under IR(ME)R 17 and IRR 17
  • Post Grad qualification in Radiology/ Management/ Healthcare or related subject
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1 +)
  • Working with oncology patients

Qualifications

  • HCPC registered
  • Senior radiographer experience
  • Teaching / management of junior staff
