The predicted salary is between 40559 - 48841 £ per year.

We are offering a Permanent and fixed‑term/secondment position (until 31 March 2027) to cover maternity leave. Permission from your current line manager is required if applying for the secondment.

Location: recruitment will determine site (VCC Cardiff or V@NHRU Abergavenny), with expectation to rotate between sites. Welsh language: Ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English or Welsh speakers are welcome.

Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and consistent pre‑treatment and treatment techniques across all radiotherapy department areas, including treatment units and pre‑treatment area.
  • Organise workload across departmental functions and supervise/judge training of junior radiographers and students.
  • Act as deputy team leader in the absence of the Band 7 radiographer.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and support total care of patients undergoing radiotherapy.
  • Work flexibly across sites, including weekends and on‑call duties as required.
Qualifications and Knowledge
  • BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent (Diploma of B.Sc (Hons), DCR(T), or Postgraduate Diploma in Radiotherapy).
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
  • Evidence of CPD through courses or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of principles underpinning radiotherapy applications and techniques.
  • Understanding of current oncology issues.
  • Full knowledge of radiation regulations.
  • Further study to Masters level (preferred).
Experience
  • Significant knowledge of radiotherapy acquired by rotating through all aspects of the discipline, including highly specialised equipment.
  • Knowledge of radiotherapy concepts and techniques.
  • Practical technical ability.
  • Experience with quality assurance, audit, and student assessment.
Skills and Attributes
  • Organisational skills, adaptability, and initiative.
  • Interpersonal skills, being reliable, punctual, self‑motivated.
  • Flexible approach to service needs.
  • Ability to speak Welsh to Level 1.
  • Supervisory skills for radiographers and students.
