We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join our dedicated Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Daycase Unit at Velindre Cancer Services. You will work closely with registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to support the safe delivery of cancer treatments in a busy outpatient setting.

Your role will include:

  • Preparing clinic areas
  • Supporting patients before, during and after treatment
  • Undertaking delegated clinical observations
  • Assisting with cannulation, venepuncture and central line access
  • Maintaining accurate documentation
  • Ensuring high standards of infection prevention and patient comfort

The ideal candidate will have previous healthcare experience, excellent communication skills, and a caring, professional approach to supporting patients through their treatment journey. Key responsibilities include:

  • Working as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients within the outpatient setting under supervision provided by a registered healthcare professional
  • Undertaking personal care activities and clinical care duties with minimal support and supervision as delegated by a registered healthcare professional in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation
  • Ensuring the registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on the patients/client's condition and progress
  • Ensuring the working environment is safe and hygienic following infection prevention and control policies and processes
  • Contributing to the teaching and supervision of students and junior staff
  • Delivering role in accordance with Health Board/Trust Values and Code of Conduct for HCSWs in Wales
