Role Description
The SIA Door Supervisor role at VELA Security is an on-site position based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. As a Door Supervisor, you will manage entry and exit points, check identification, control access, and ensure venue policies are followed. You will monitor crowd behavior, de-escalate conflict, and respond to incidents in line with legal and company procedures, including completing accurate incident reports. The role includes working closely with venue management, colleagues, and external agencies to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff. Shifts may include evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays, requiring a professional presence, strong communication skills, and a consistent focus on safety and customer service.
Qualifications
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor license and a strong understanding of relevant UK laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Experience in front-line security, crowd management, or customer-facing roles in venues such as bars, clubs, events, or hospitality settings.
- Ability to assess risks, remain calm under pressure, and apply effective conflict management and de-escalation techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and clearly with diverse guests, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Good physical fitness, alertness, and the ability to stand for extended periods and work variable shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of following procedures, maintaining accurate records, and handling sensitive information confidentially.
- Basic first aid training (or willingness to obtain) and familiarity with emergency procedures is highly beneficial.
- Previous experience in the Manchester area or local knowledge of common venue environments is an advantage but not essential.
