The Finance Business Partner plays a critical role in driving financial performance management and supporting strategic decision-making across the business. Working closely with senior operational leaders, this role provides high-quality financial insight, leads complex analysis, and takes ownership of significant areas of the P&L.
The role carries responsibility for capital expenditure (CapEx) project appraisal, tracking, and post-investment review, as well as supporting the broader financial planning, forecasting, and reporting cycle. The Finance Business Partner is expected to demonstrate commercial acumen, operational awareness, and the confidence to challenge assumptions and influence outcomes at a senior level.
This role also forms part of the finance team's succession framework, with expectations to develop leadership skills and contribute to the mentoring of junior roles.
What you'll do:
- Lead monthly financial reviews with sharp variance analysis and real insight.
- Own defined P&L areas, drive the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, and build the models that underpin our biggest decisions.
- Run end-to-end investment appraisals (DCF, IRR/NPV, business cases), keep the CapEx tracker tight, and close the loop with post-investment reviews that actually change how we do things.
- Translate complex financials into language that moves people. Challenge decisions commercially, attend operational reviews, and become a trusted voice across the US business.
- Support Board packs, statutory accounts, and US GAAP/IFRS reporting. Assist with IRS submissions, sales tax, and corporate tax, and help drive continuous improvement in our controls and audit readiness.
- Coach junior team members, contribute to succession planning, and set the standard for analytical rigour and finance best practice.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive finance or accounting experience.
- Demonstrable experience in financial analysis, planning, and business partnering.
- Direct experience managing or supporting CapEx projects, including financial appraisal and post-investment review.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Progress towards or completion of a professional qualification (CPA, CMA, CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) or Master's degree (MBA or MSc Finance/Accounting).
- Fully qualified CPA, CMA, or equivalent.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, DCF/NPV analysis, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
