Overview As semiconductor devices become more complex, the demand for precision-built and fully validated equipment continues to rise. Veeco’s systems play a critical role in enabling advanced packaging, photonics, and high-performance computing applications, where build quality directly impacts device yield and reliability. As a Senior Assembler, you own the assembly and validation of complex electromechanical systems, ensuring each tool meets exacting performance and quality standards before customer deployment. Your work directly influences manufacturing consistency, delivery timelines, and customer success. You will lead critical builds, solve technical challenges in real time, and shape how next-generation systems are assembled and tested.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end assembly and validation of complex semiconductor equipment and subassembly components, ensuring each system meets specification, tolerance, and performance requirements.
- Lead high-complexity builds, coordinating sequencing, resource allocation, and execution to maintain quality and production schedules.
- Diagnose, test, and resolve assembly and system-level issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions that improve build consistency.
- Solder, run electrical wiring, and check connections and continuity.
- Validate system readiness through functional testing, inspection, and quality verification prior to integration and customer shipment.
- Interpret engineering documentation and translate it into executable build plans, identifying gaps and driving alignment with engineering teams.
- Drive quality by identifying non-conforming components or workmanship issues and ensuring timely resolution with cross-functional partners.
- Monitor operation including gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure the machines are working properly.
- Mentor junior assemblers, elevating team capability through hands-on training and reinforcement of standardized build and test practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a completed High School Diploma or GED.
- 4+ years of experience assembling and testing complex mechanical or electromechanical systems.
- Experience performing system-level testing or validation in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation.
- Must have solder experience, certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues during assembly and testing.
- Proficiency with precision tools and measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, verniers and torque wrenches.
- Experience performing functional testing and validating system performance prior to release.
- Familiarity with vacuum systems, cryopumps, and gas handling systems used in semiconductor equipment highly preferred.
- Skilled in soldering and electrical continuity verification.
- Ability to plan and execute complex builds with attention to sequencing and part dependencies.
- Effective collaboration with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Must be computer literate in MS Word and Excel.
Salary and Benefits The expected salary range for this position is $44,830—$56,785, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay. Other benefits include:
