About the Role
Veeco is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Planner to support our IBD300, New Product Development (NPD) Supply Chain team. Based in Somerset, NJ, this role is critical to ensuring material readiness, build execution, and schedule alignment for complex NPD prototype and early production builds. In this role, you will lead planning and scheduling activities that support engineering development milestones, system builds, and customer commitments. You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Program Management to proactively manage material flow, mitigate risk, and ensure on-time delivery throughout the NPD lifecycle. This is a primarily onsite role in Somerset, NJ with some hybrid flexibility (1-2 days/week) depending on project activity requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage material requirements, build plans, and sub-assembly schedules for IBD300 NPD prototype, pilot, and early production builds.
- Drive execution against NPD milestones, ensuring material readiness aligns with engineering and program schedules.
- Act on SAP MRP planning messages, adjusting schedules based on supplier constraints, capacity limitations, and engineering changes.
- Identify, communicate, and actively resolve material availability risks that could impact NPD build schedules or system deliveries.
- Review and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and MRB dispositions, ensuring timely incorporation into build plans and material strategies.
- Expedite materials as needed, coordinating closely with Procurement, Suppliers, Warehouse, and Quality teams to support critical NPD builds.
- Ensure build kits and system shipments are complete, accurate, and on schedule, supporting both internal development and customer-facing deliveries.
- Partner cross-functionally to manage intercompany purchase orders and continuously improve NPD material planning and execution processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of planning, scheduling, or supply chain experience, with direct exposure to New Product Development or NPI environments (or 3+ years with a Master’s).
- Strong working knowledge of MRP, material planning, and end-to-end supply chain concepts; SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting prototype, pilot, or low-volume/high-complexity builds is highly desirable.
- APICS/ASCM certification a plus.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional NPD environment.
Why Join Us
You’ll play a hands-on role in bringing Veeco’s next-generation IBD300 technology from development to reality.
