Overview:

Veeco is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who will provide technical expertise for production tools, both internal operations and contract manufacturers when needed, to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets are met. Responsibilities include validating production processes, optimising bills of material and proactively addressing re-occurring issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes and equipment to resolve issues permanently.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Support final test operations in troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical, and control related issues. Identify and implement permanent corrective actions to resolve these issues.
  • Review and update production documentation to ensure proper methods and process control. Create new documentation as needed.
  • Analyse and resolve technical and operational problems (8D analysis).
  • Review and respond to technical queries from suppliers.
  • Conduct production related design reviews, participate in manufacturing readiness reviews and tool risk reviews.
  • Suggest and implement changes within Veeco’s manufacturing environment, which includes facilities, and equipment to increase the efficiency of operations (yield improvements).
  • Execute engineering change masters (ECMs) in a timely manner, manage part non-conformance notifications in SAP, and address supplier deviations.
  • Pursue initiatives to reduce scrap and improve production efficiency.
  • Provide regular status reports on activities and projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (manufacturing, mechanical, industrial) with at least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in complex equipment or product manufacturing.
  • Previous experience in product design and manufacturing a big plus.
  • Previous experience in an Engineer to Order (ETO) is a plus.
  • Experience with developing processes and managing low volume, high complexity product. Very large Bills of Material and lengthy product lead times.
  • Knowledge of product designs, 3D modelling, drawing reviews a must.
  • Experience with reviewing, vetting and implementing product design changes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks including evaluating internal & external quality issues, reviewing supplier change requests.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Control process, reviewing potential design or obsolescence changes, identifying potential risks and putting actions in place to mitigate any identified risk.
  • Ability to generate process documentation including Sequence of Operations, Method Instructions, and technician training.
  • Strong skills in the use structured problem solving processes/tools to identify root cause, corrective action(s) and resolve problems.
  • Ability to organise & problems and actions to lead cross functional teams resolving difficult or lingering quality or operational issues.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture; semiconductor experience is a plus.
  • Vacuum (UHV) and clean room experience highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with SPC and process control methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to independently drive solutions and interpret technical documents (schematics, drawings, BOMS, routers, procedures).
  • Ability to solve practical problems in manufacturing and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

Salary and Benefits:

The expected salary range for this position is $73,617 — $93,249, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
