Under supervision of the Engineering Manager and indirectly for the Operations Manager, the Electrical Engineer/Energy Manager is responsible for developing and reviewing electrical distribution systems and facilities designs, ensuring proper functionality, safety, and compliance with applicable standards. They are responsible for managing and delivering comprehensive electrical technical services associated with facilities operation and maintenance, including:
- Setting up test equipment
- Preparing documentation
- Updating CADD/CAM files
- Maintaining technical drawings and specifications
- Conducting general troubleshooting of systems and equipment
The Electrical Engineer shall directly support and engage in construction and facility projects, and with facilities operation and maintenance to provide design oversight, reviewing submittals, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams during design, construction stages, and facilities operations and maintenance. The electrical engineer performs duties as the energy manager and is responsible for establishing and executing a base wide energy management program to promote responsible use of resources and sustainable energy. As the Energy Manager, they utilise various tools and software to monitor building utility consumption to assist with determining energy reduction projects for the organisation. They are also responsible for providing technical analysis, review, measurement, and verification of energy related projects related to temperature control facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists Management with various duties, such as building prototypes, project design, and cost estimation for new projects.
- Performs Title II inspection of CE projects, establishing and executing the energy management program.
- Prepares documentation, updates CADD/CAM files, and maintains technical drawings and specifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet organisational/operational objectives. Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.
Material & Equipment Directly Used:
- May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, and other personal protection equipment (PPE) such as flak vest and Kevlar helmet.
- May be required to push, pull, and lift heavy equipment.
- Use of cell phones to maintain contact and accountability of work activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institute.
- Certifications: Certified Energy Manager (CEM) obtained through the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Secret Clearance.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering operations, 4+ years of experience in energy management, experience with CAD/CAM software, previous experience in an engineering technician role, project management for facility maintenance, repair, renovation, and minor military construction.
Additional Preferred Experience:
- Commissioning, Construction Engineering, Electrical Design, Facilities Engineering, HVAC or P.E are desired.
- Knowledge and experience with HVAC, control, electrical systems and proficiency with energy analysis tools.
- Working knowledge of cost and savings studies and incorporating energy conservation measures.
Skills and Technology Used:
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness to work in varied weather conditions on a remote island.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations including after-hours calls.
- Experience with military fuel operations preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Knowledge of DOW utilities management and R-factor rating.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed reports.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations related to fuel storage.
