Vectric is a fast-moving, employee-owned UK company that has produced an award-winning range of 3D design and CNC machining software tools for more than 20 years. Based in the beautiful market town of Alcester, Warwickshire, our global sales are made directly online and through our world-wide network of CNC machine tool manufacturers who include our software in their CNC solutions. Our customers range from artists, creative designers and hobbyists to engineers, well-known commercial companies and industrial manufacturers. We provide high performance software tools, developed entirely in-house, designed to be enjoyable to use and accessible to anyone regardless of technical background.

We are seeking a Software Engineer with prior commercial experience to join a well-established but rapidly growing team of developers. You will join a dedicated desktop product team of typically 4 or 5 other developers. Our teams work using an agile methodology within our larger multi-product development department. You will primarily code in C++ for Windows and MacOS, but Vectric also creates web and AI products and services, many of which are integrated into our desktop product range. We encourage the appropriate use of a variety of modern tools and technologies in support of your core activities.

You will have:

  • A first-class degree, Masters or PhD in Maths, Computer Science or other relevant scientific field.
  • At least 2 years' experience in desktop software development for Windows, Mac or Linux.
  • This role would suit an energetic candidate with a drive to make a direct impact in a competitive commercial environment and is ready for the next step on a career path towards leadership.
  • Commercial coding experience in modern C++ is a distinct advantage, but commercial experience in another appropriate language (C#, Rust, Java) could also be considered. Support and training can be provided.

Hybrid working (2 office days per week). Full-time (37.5hrs) but compressed 4-day week also possible. Salary £45-65k (depending on experience), 15% employer's pension contributions (5% from the employee), private healthcare scheme (including spouse and children), Annual bonus - with up to the first £3,500 paid tax free.

Independently of your employment contract, after 12 months employment you are automatically enrolled as a staff-beneficiary of Vectric's Employee Ownership Trust. The Trust receives the majority of any profit issued by Vectric as dividends and, at the discretion of its Trustees, periodically distributes these profits to all of its staff-beneficiaries on equal terms. Provided the company is profitable, these distributions can be more significant than the annual bonus.
