We are looking for an experienced Global IT Operations Manager to lead a team responsible for a complex mix of Azure and on-premises infrastructure. D365 F&O/F&SCM experience is essential. You must have managed IT operations within a live D365 Finance & Operations environment, including the Azure services supporting and integrating with the platform. General Azure or broader Dynamics 365 experience alone will not be enough. This is a senior, hands-off management role. You will provide technical direction and operational leadership, but your focus will be managing people, services, suppliers and projects rather than carrying out the engineering yourself.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading a global team of at least five Azure and infrastructure engineers
  • Direct line management, including performance reviews, development plans, progression and performance improvement
  • Overseeing Azure, networks, Windows servers, infrastructure security, unified communications and physical security systems
  • Managing major incidents and ensuring services remain stable, secure and available
  • Leading infrastructure projects across multiple countries
  • Managing technology vendors and systems integrators, including suppliers such as Cisco
  • Providing clear technical direction and developing the capability of the team

You must have:

  • Current or recent experience as an IT Operations Manager, Infrastructure Manager or Head of Infrastructure
  • Operational experience within a D365 F&O environment
  • Experience managing the Azure services supporting and integrating with D365 F&O
  • Directly line-managed a team
  • Hands-off management experience rather than operating as a team lead or senior engineer
  • Broad responsibility for Azure, networks, Windows servers and infrastructure security
  • Strong incident, supplier and project management experience
  • Experience supporting infrastructure across multiple countries

How to prepare for a job interview at Vector Resourcing

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
