Electrical Design Engineer - Manchester - Permanent - Power Generation, Energy Infrastructure & Battery Energy Storage

Are you an Electrical Design Engineer looking to work on technically interesting projects within power generation, distributed energy and battery energy storage?

This is an opportunity to join a well-established engineering business supporting the delivery of critical energy infrastructure projects across the UK.

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll be involved in the design of LV and HV electrical systems for CHP plant, power generation installations, grid-connected energy systems and battery energy storage projects.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of engineering projects, technical variety and genuine long-term career development within a growing sector playing an important role in the UK's energy transition.

The Role

  • Designing LV and HV electrical distribution systems
  • Producing electrical schematics and technical drawings using Auto CAD
  • Developing protection and control schemes
  • Performing cable sizing and electrical calculations
  • Preparing specifications for switchgear, transformers and associated equipment
  • Producing electrical design documentation and project packages
  • Liaising with DNOs, suppliers, clients and project teams
  • Supporting project delivery from concept through to commissioning
  • Conducting occasional site visits and updating as-built documentation

About You

You’ll ideally have

  • HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5 years' experience within an engineering or construction environment
  • Strong Auto CAD experience
  • Experience using Trimble, Amtech or similar electrical design software
  • Knowledge of LV and HV electrical systems
  • Experience producing detailed electrical engineering designs
  • Full UK Driving Licence
