Fantastic position for a Lab Technician has arisen at a global materials manufacturing business situated near Warrington on a 6-month fixed-term basis. This is a great opportunity open to experienced Lab Technicians as well as recent graduates or early-career scientists looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced industrial environment, working closely with technical and production teams on real-world product and process development.
You’ll be involved in everything from raw material validation and experimental work through to supporting plant operations and contributing to new product development. You’ll also gain exposure to structured experimentation, with strong opportunities to get involved in DOE-led development work.
The Role
This is a practical, lab-based role with strong exposure to manufacturing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting raw material testing, validation, and experimental processes
- Leading and maintaining laboratory processes including reflux and material verification
- Working with the technical team on new product development and improvement programmes
- Assisting with scale-up from lab to plant-level production
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting to manufacturing operations
- Producing clear, concise reports and experimental data analysis
- Writing and maintaining lab procedures and work instructions
- Supporting quality processes and product release activities
- Acting as backup to QC where required
Requirements
- Degree or Level 3 / HNC / HND in a science-based discipline (Chemistry, Materials, or similar)
- Understanding of laboratory techniques and good lab practices
- Recent and relevant exposure to Design of Experiments (DOE) or experimental analysis either in industry or within an academic environment
- Strong attention to detail and scientific reporting skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work across lab and plant environments
- Awareness of health & safety and COSHH
