Our client, one of the fastest-growing drainage companies in the UK, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Depot Manager / Operations Manager to oversee the smooth running of their busy depot. This is a key operational role, focused on managing teams, resources, and day-to-day activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
The Role
- Day-to-day management of the depot and operational workforce, ensuring all activities are delivered safely and to the highest standards
- Lead, support, and develop a team of drainage operatives and supervisors, ensuring clear communication and effective resourcing
- Coordinate and plan operational activities including gully emptying, reactive jetting, root cutting, CCTV surveys, and traffic management
- Ensure the depot remains fully compliant with company policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements
- Monitor operational performance, productivity, and quality, addressing any issues proactively
- Manage the scheduling of works, labour, and plant/equipment to meet service and client requirements
- Carry out regular site and depot audits to drive safety, compliance, and service excellence
- Support the Contracts Manager and senior leadership team with operational updates and reporting
About You
- Proven experience in an operational leadership role within the drainage, utilities, highways, or civil engineering sector
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to motivate and lead multi-skilled teams
- Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities
- The ability to drive performance and maintain high safety standards
