The role is field‑oriented, requiring a visible leader who bridges strategic HSEQ goals with site‑level execution. This position offers autonomy to shape a robust safety culture within a fast‑paced, scaling environment, taking full ownership of the project lifecycle from Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) preparation to post‑incident investigation and occupational health management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement SHEQ strategy across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Prepare and review SSOW, perform complex risk assessments, and lead post‑accident investigations to underpin return‑to‑work evaluations.
- Conduct regular site safety and quality observations, and oversee compliance audits.
- Maintain accurate records in modern HSQE management software, supporting audit trails and reporting.
- Travel regularly across the UK to conduct welfare checks, training and ensure consistent safety performance.
Qualifications:
- Mandatory NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Proven track record of SHEQ management within a Civil Engineering or Construction environment.
- Experience in drainage or high‑pressure water jetting sectors preferred.
- Advanced competency in Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Gas Detection and Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE).
- Expertise in preparing SSOW, performing complex risk assessments and leading post‑accident investigations.
- Full UK Driving License and willingness to travel nationally for site‑based work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HSQE management software.
