Drainage Engineer – Field-Based
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Salary: £28,000 – £34,000 per year
Plus Commission Structure & Enhanced Overtime Rates
We are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Drainage Engineer to join our growing team in a client-facing, field-based role. You’ll attend domestic and commercial properties, diagnose and resolve drainage issues, and represent the business professionally on-site.
Responsibilities
- Attend both emergency and planned drainage jobs
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues using CCTV surveys, high-pressure water jetting, rods, etc.
- Carry out drain clearance, descaling, root cutting, patch lining, and minor excavations
- Liaise directly with customers to explain issues and solutions
- Identify and recommend additional work where appropriate
- Maintain strict adherence to health and safety procedures (RAMS)
- Contribute to brand reputation with excellent service and technical knowledge
- Take part in an on-call rota to support 24/7 service delivery
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 1 year’s drainage experience (essential)
- Customer-facing experience with strong communication skills
- HPWJ certification preferred
- Plumbing knowledge and/or drainage tanker experience (desirable)
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- CSCS card (preferred)
- Comfortable using mobile apps and technology on-site
