We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Lead Electronics Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering organisation designing and delivering high‑reliability electronic products used in demanding environments worldwide. You will play a pivotal role in leading hands‑on electronics design activities while providing technical authority across product development from concept through to production. Responsibilities of Lead Electronic Design Engineer:
- Lead the end‑to‑end design and development of complete electronic products from concept through to production release.
- Define system, performance, environmental, and regulatory requirements, ensuring designs meet applicable standards.
- Provide technical leadership across electronics, embedded firmware, and system architecture.
- Design and review hardware including microcontroller‑based systems, analogue and digital circuitry, and power supplies.
- Support regulatory compliance activities including EMC, radio, safety, and environmental testing.
- Drive New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring designs are optimised for manufacture, test, reliability, and cost.
- Develop and maintain production test, calibration processes, and supporting tools.
- Support and oversee third‑party design partners, contractors, and test houses as required.
- Provide technical input to bids, proposals, and customer discussions when needed.
- Maintain robust documentation, configuration control, and engineering change processes.
Requirements of Principal Electronics Design Engineer:
- Strong background in electronics design with experience delivering complete products to production.
- Proven expertise in microcontroller‑based systems (e.g. STM32, Nordic, Microchip or similar).
- Experience with embedded C and close collaboration with firmware teams.
- Understanding of schematic capture and PCB layout principles (hands‑on or via bureau management).
- Experience with compliance activities (EMC, radio, safety, environmental testing, etc).
- Ability to lead technically, make sound engineering decisions, and take ownership of delivery.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage internal and external stakeholders.
