A leading engineering group working on a number of innovative long term projects has a new vacancy for a Chief Engineer and has appointed Vectis Recruitment as exclusive recruitment partner.

A hands‑on Technical Specialist, you will provide subject matter expertise in the development of advanced battery management electronics and associated control systems for electrified platforms and energy storage applications.

The Role
  • Operate as the technical authority for advanced Battery Management System (BMS) hardware architectures, leading the development of high‑ and low‑voltage battery systems for electrified vehicle platforms.
  • Define, review, and approve hardware requirements, technical specifications, and system architectures.
  • Lead the design and development of robust electronic hardware solutions.
  • Conduct and lead technical reviews of schematics, PCB layouts, and system integration activities.
  • Provide technical leadership for hardware verification, validation, root‑cause analysis, and fault investigation activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with software, controls, systems, electrical distribution systems (EDS), and mechanical engineering teams.
  • Support customer engagements, concept development activities, technical proposals, and technology roadmap definition, acting as a trusted technical representative.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, components, and development methodologies to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
The Person
  • Expert understanding of battery management system architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of battery cell behaviour, battery pack architectures and system integration considerations.
  • Understanding of battery physical architectures, requirements and constraints.
  • Experience of verification testing of BMS platforms in high‑voltage (400V+).
  • Strong expertise in analog and mixed‑signal circuit design for precision voltage, current and temperature measurement applications.
  • Strong understanding of high‑voltage battery systems including sensing, isolation, protection and fault detection mechanisms.
  • Strong experience with communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, CANbus.
