A sector leading manufacturer of complex metal solutions to the aerospace, defence and energy sectors has a new vacancy for a Director of Engineering to join the business. You will play a pivotal role to ensure Engineering delivery capability and developing new products for the company portfolio to support the continued expansion of the group. Applicants are sought who have a Mechanical Engineering background gained within a complex manufacturing environment and a proven track record of new product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities for new product development which will complement current business portfolio for new and current markets.
- Lead research & development projects and strategic Roadmaps.
- Coach, develop and mentor team with a focus on upskilling and succession planning.
- Develop company systems & procedures to ensure effective use of engineering resources.
- Drive a continuous improvement ethos in the engineering team and company wide.
- Develop long term relationships with key customers.
- Keep up to date with new technologies and emerging markets.
- Work with key stakeholders in Commercial to support product development.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and strive to exceed customer expectations.
- Support the new Bids & Proposal team.
The Person:
- Previous experience of leading a large engineering team.
- A good understanding of the aerospace and/or defence sectors.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering and professional membership preferred.
- Proven track record of developing new products.
- An entrepreneurial approach for developing new systems, processes and products.
- A hands-on approach with strong influence and mentoring skills.
