A global manufacturer of precision machined components is developing a new product for the aerospace & defence sectors and has a new vacancy for a CNC Engineer. Working in the R&D new product development division, you will produce small batch prototype products and candidates are sought with experience programming, setting and operating CNC Lathes.

The Role

  • Programming, setting, operating CNC Lathes.
  • Work with the design & development team on new product development.
  • Carry out first-off and in-process inspections using measuring equipment.
  • Verification & validation of machining strategies and inspection methods.
  • Training of operators to operate machinery & one to one training on job operations.
  • Assist the project team with the Industrialisation from product development to production.
  • Process optimisation to optimise product quality and productivity.
  • Work with tooling suppliers to optimise consumable costs.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives.

The Person

  • Apprentice trained with minimum 5 years’ experience in a machine shop environment.
  • FANUC CNC lathe programming experience.
  • Good understanding of machining speeds & feeds for Exotic materials.
  • Knowledge of CAD-CAM (AutoCad and/or Solidworks desirable).
  • Must be computer literate and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
