A sector leading manufacturer of complex precision components supplied to the aerospace, defence and energy sectors has a new vacancy for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. You will be responsible for improving manufacturing processes through the design and introduction of new equipment into production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the business on engineering issues and problem solving activities.
  • Create CAD models and assemblies with detailed 2D drawings to provide information on manufacturing/assembly requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of project scope and agree appropriate technical specifications.
  • Test prototypes with team and recommend improvement where necessary.
  • Create test criteria and organise functionality testing to ensure the machine/equipment reliability performance as requested.
  • Work with Quality team, production and support functions on test requirements for new equipment.
  • Obtain quotes and provide cost calculations on machines and tooling using cost calculation sheet provided.
  • Keep stakeholders regularly updated on project progress.

The Person

  • A degree or equivalent in an Engineering related discipline.
  • Experience with implementing new processes into production.
  • Knowledge of complex jigs & fixtures and machinery design.
  • Previous experience working in a highly complex and regulated environment.
  • Understanding of the theory and application to conducting complex analysis with FEA.
  • A strong understanding of materials and manufacturing methods.
