Role Overview
Role Purpose
The Data Migration Lead is responsible for the planning, execution and assurance of large-scale document migrations from multiple legacy repositories into SharePoint Online, ensuring data integrity, compliance and traceability throughout.
Key Responsibilities
- Migration Planning
- Develop and maintain a detailed migration plan and schedule.
- Define source-to-target mappings and metadata transformation rules.
- Identify risks, dependencies and mitigations.
- Execution & Control
- Lead automated bulk migration activities from legacy systems.
- Monitor progress, performance and exceptions.
- Data Quality & Assurance
- Implement duplicate detection and controlled deletion workflows.
- Validate file integrity, counts and completeness post-migration.
- Ensure complex files (macros, links) remain usable.
- Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure migration approach is approved by data controllers and information governance leads.
- Coordinate validation and sign-off with service leads.
- Provide clear progress and risk reporting.
