Point Nine is a seed-stage venture capital firm focused on B2B SaaS and B2B marketplaces. Since 2008, we’ve been amongst the first investors in companies like Algolia, Chainalysis, Contentful, Delivery Hero, Docplanner, Mambu, Loom, Revolut, Typeform, Tier and Zendesk. We’re currently expanding our operations team and looking for a Head of Finance (f/m) who wants to join us at our Berlin office.

What will you be working on? As a Head of Finance at Point Nine you’ll be a key member of our operations team and will work closely with the Operating Partner on a variety of tasks:

  • You’ll get exposure to a large range of transactions (from financing rounds, through M&A transactions, restructurings, IPOs and closing our funds).
  • You will be responsible for a comprehensive overview of capitalization tables (and waterfalls) of our portfolio companies across all funds.
  • You’ll own the preparation of quarterly reports for our funds and will contribute to other investor communications (e.g. fundraising data rooms, investor presentations etc.).
  • You’ll be responsible for cash flow/reserve planning as well as efficient processing of distributions.
  • You’ll own regulatory reporting (German Federal Bank, BAFIN, FATCA, CRS, etc.).
  • You’ll own a variety of tasks related to financial statements (and their audits) of our funds (e.g. preparation of management reports).
  • You’ll own communication with banks and external service providers (tax advisors/accountants, auditors, insurance brokers, etc.).
  • You’ll support international expansion.
  • You’ll work on improvements of our internal processes (e.g. introduction of new tools) to make our VC fund operations even smoother.
  • You’ll have 1-2 direct reports.

What do we think an ideal candidate looks like? You’re highly motivated, your soul burns for the mix of finance, tax and operations and you want to make an impact in a highly dynamic environment. Besides, we expect that:

  • You have a business/finance degree with an excellent academic record.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working in a Big-4 audit firm, a fund administrator, an operations department of a VC or an investment bank.
  • You have excellent analytical skills, structured way of thinking and can-do mentality.
  • You’re great at self-organization and task prioritization.
  • You work autonomously, but you’re a great team player.
  • You have a down to earth mentality, excellent communication skills, passion for the job and empathy in relationships.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment; you don’t mind substantial swings in workloads and new challenges.
  • You’re a digital native and have excellent knowledge of Excel and the Google suite and very good knowledge of Word, Keynote or other modern presentation tools.
  • You’re fluent in English and German.

What do we offer to you?

  • Flexible work environment.
  • You’ll get a lot of deal experience and learn a ton about funding rounds in Germany, the US, the UK, France and many other jurisdictions.
  • You’ll get exposure to the VC fundraising process, fund set-up and regulatory environment; you decide how steep your learning curve will be.
  • You’ll be part of an international team from many corners of the world.
  • Competitive compensation (in addition to monthly allowances for mobile phone, sport studio and language classes).
