Reporting to the Deputy CFO, the position will be working alongside the VCCP Finance Director and five other Finance Business Partners and will be responsible for one of the Group’s operating companies. The Finance Business Partner will play a critical role in partnering with senior leaders, providing financial insights and analysis to support decision-making and to drive financial performance. This role will also involve delivering consistent, highly accurate forecasts and annual budgets, closely monitoring resource management as well as analysing agency performance via utilisation and client recoverability.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of agency dynamics and a proven track record in financial analysis, forecasting, and business partnering.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Strategic Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted advisor to the agency’s leadership team, highlighting risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Deliver insights that shape business decisions and improve profitability.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, department heads and account teams to provide financial guidance on operational and strategic decisions, preparing scenario analysis to assess the financial impact of decisions.
- Act as the bridge between Finance and the Agencies to support each business with all finance and commercial queries and decisions.
- Lead the financial planning processes for the agency, including annual budgets and monthly forecasting.
- Monitor and analyse business performance against budget and forecast, identifying trends and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Revenue Recognition, Forecasting & Reporting
- Ensure the accuracy of client revenue forecasts by working closely with client teams to understand project pipelines, timings, and financial impacts.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on revenue performance and potential risks or opportunities.
- Monitor revenue recognition and ensure proper alignment with revenue recognition policies.
- Review accrued income and work with Commercial and Client Finance to resolve issues and ensure billing is completed as promptly as possible.
- Resource Allocation
- Collaborate with account teams and department heads to closely manage and monitor agency resources.
- Ensure resourcing levels are aligned with anticipated revenues, and that resource is appropriately adjusted when forecasted fees change.
- Management Accounts
- Review the monthly management accounts which are prepared by the Management Accountant, ensuring YTD actuals are being accurately reported and that reporting deadlines are met.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reviews ensuring any aged items are resolved and any risks are highlighted to management.
- Review and approve the monthly payroll reports and reconciliations prepared by payroll and the Management Accountant.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to the Management Accountant.
- Client Profitability Analysis
- Analyse the financial performance of client accounts, including recoverability, profitability, project margins, and resource utilisation.
- Support client negotiations by providing financial insights on pricing, fee structures, and contract terms.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on profitability by client, and potential risks or opportunities.
- Financial Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with financial controls, processes and agency policies.
- Work with external auditors and ensure accurate financial reporting in line with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and corporate governance regulations.
- Monthly review of VAT postings and quarterly review of VAT return.
- Assisting with the preparation of annual statutory accounts, including a detailed review of the final accounts to ensure the accuracy and validity of the reported figures.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a finance business, partnering or senior financial analyst role.
- Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting within a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical skills with experience in building financial models and conducting investment appraisals.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems, financial modelling tools).
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
