Our aim is to bring the VCCP Challenger Spirit to the healthcare sector, not settling to do things as they’ve always been done, but rather look at how things could be done differently. The agency works on prescription, medical devices, animal health, OTC & wellness brands, developing the full range of materials required for communications aimed at healthcare professional and consumer audiences.
The Medical Writing team is a core part of the engine that powers our agency, collaborating fundamentally with our strategy and creative teams to bring projects to life and drive meaningful change. You'll have the opportunity to get deeply immersed in a range of therapy areas, including: HIV, Respiratory (Asthma/COPD), Neurology (Schizophrenia), Cardiometabolic (Diabetes, Obesity), Cardiovascular, Women's Health (UF, Endometriosis), and Medical Devices.
This is a fantastic career opportunity for a Senior Medical Writer to join VCCP Health in London. Reporting to the Scientific Director, you will be the primary medical writer across your key accounts, working closely with our copywriters and aligning with our strategy team to deliver a range of materials. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential for collaborating with both internal teams and external clients. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Content generation: Develop compelling, scientifically rigorous, compliant messaging for a diverse range of promotional materials, such as eDetail aids, congress stands, HCP & patient educational programmes, leavepieces, websites and digital content.
- Scientific analysis: Analyse clinical data and scientific papers to extract key insights, directly informing messaging and communication strategy.
- Account ownership & consistency: Take full ownership of key accounts, ensuring all materials are aligned and maintain a consistent style and tone.
- Team collaboration: Serve as the primary medical expert for your accounts, fostering strong, collaborative relationships with all internal team members.
- Research: Conduct thorough literature searches and data trawls for pitches and create clear scientific backgrounder documents.
- Client engagement: Actively participate in client meetings and confidently present your work externally.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to more junior medical writers.
- An advanced degree in the life sciences with relevant medical writing experience within promotional medical communications.
- A strong passion for medical communication and an ability to communicate complex scientific ideas in a simple, clear manner, in writing and verbally.
- Extensive experience working on a wide range of deliverables in medical communication.
- Confidence in presenting to clients and participating during meetings in an active capacity, building rapport with clients and probing them on their objectives and approaches.
- Experience proposing the development of new materials and content, based on a deep understanding of the brands, their scientific data and strategic goals.
- Ability to work independently but also collaborate with the full team, including account handlers, copywriters and art directors.
- Ability to work across multiple therapeutic areas and managing own workload well under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with colleagues.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Confident with ABPI guidelines and experience using Veeva Promomats.
