THE ROLE:

We are looking for an experienced Maconomy ERP Testing Manager to lead the testing workstream for a Deltek Maconomy ERP consolidation. The role will be responsible for defining the test strategy, managing system testing, integration testing, data migration testing and user acceptance testing, and ensuring the solution is ready for go-live.

The successful candidate will work closely with finance, operations, IT, business process owners and implementation partners to create realistic test scenarios, manage defect resolution, coordinate UAT, report progress and secure business sign-off.

This role is suited to someone with strong ERP testing experience, a good understanding of finance and project accounting processes, and ideally previous experience with Deltek Maconomy in a project-based or professional services environment.

Purpose of the role

The Maconomy ERP Testing Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing all testing activities for a Deltek Maconomy ERP consolidation (Workbook functionality being migrated to Maconomy), upgrade or enhancement programme. The role ensures that business processes, integrations, data migration, reporting, security roles and finance/project accounting workflows are properly tested before go-live.

The Testing Manager works closely with the ERP programme team, finance, project management, IT, system integrators, business process owners and end users to ensure the system is fit for purpose and operationally ready.

Key responsibilities

Test strategy and planning

Develop and maintain the overall ERP test strategy, covering:

  • System testing
  • Integration testing
  • Data migration testing
  • User acceptance testing
  • Regression testing
  • Security and access testing
  • Reporting and dashboard testing
  • Cutover and go-live readiness testing

Create detailed test plans, test schedules, entry and exit criteria, test governance and reporting standards.

Maconomy process testing

Ensure full test coverage across core Maconomy business processes, including:

  • Project setup and project lifecycle
  • Client and job/project management
  • Time entry and approval
  • Expense entry and approval
  • Purchasing and supplier invoices
  • Client billing and invoicing
  • Revenue recognition
  • Project accounting
  • General ledger postings
  • Month-end and period close
  • Intercompany processes
  • Workflow approvals
  • Resource planning, if in scope
  • Management reporting and finance reporting

UAT management

Lead the planning and delivery of User Acceptance Testing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying UAT testers across finance, operations and business teams
  • Creating UAT scenarios based on real business processes
  • Coordinating test execution
  • Tracking completion and defects
  • Supporting users during testing
  • Ensuring business sign-off is properly captured

Test script and scenario management

Work with business analysts, functional consultants and process owners to create test scripts that reflect real-world business activity.

Ensure test scripts include:

  • Business scenario
  • Preconditions
  • Step-by-step actions
  • Expected results
  • Actual results
  • Evidence capture
  • Defect reference
  • Pass/fail status
  • Business owner sign-off

Defect management

Own the defect management process.

This includes:

  • Logging and triaging defects
  • Categorising defects by severity and priority
  • Assigning defects to the correct owner
  • Tracking fixes and retesting
  • Reporting aged or high-impact issues
  • Escalating blockers to the programme board
  • Ensuring no critical defects remain open before go-live

Integration and data testing

Coordinate testing of integrations between Maconomy and related systems, such as:

  • Sage HR systems
  • Active Directory / Entra ID / SSO
  • Banking platforms ?
  • Reporting platforms
  • Data warehouse / Power BI

Ensure migrated data is correctly mapped, validated for completeness, accuracy and business usability.

Reporting and governance

Provide regular test reporting to the ERP Programme Manager, sponsors and steering committee.

Typical reporting includes:

  • Test progress
  • Pass/fail rates
  • Defect status
  • Critical risks
  • Blockers
  • Readiness assessment
  • UAT sign-off status
  • Go-live recommendation from a testing perspective

Required experience

The ideal candidate should have experience in:

  • Managing ERP testing for finance or professional services systems
  • Deltek Maconomy, ideally in an advertising agency, consultancy, professional services or project-based business
  • UAT coordination across multiple business units or countries
  • Finance process testing, including billing, revenue, GL, AP, AR and month-end
  • Defect management and test governance
  • Working with system integrators and business stakeholders
  • Managing testing in a project or programme environment
  • Using tools such as Excel, Azure DevOps, Jira, DevOps Test Plans, Smartsheet or similar

Desirable experience

  • Deltek Maconomy implementation or upgrade experience
  • Experience \ any exposure to Deltek Workbook
  • Experience with Maconomy integrations
  • Experience with data migration testing
  • Experience in advertising, media, marketing, consulting or professional services
  • Knowledge of project accounting and client billing
  • Experience with Power BI or reporting validation
  • Experience working across multiple legal entities, countries or currencies
