Location: Village Vet Winchmore Hill
Hours: Full time 42 hour working week. Working 8 hour shifts either 8am-4.30pm, 9.30am-6pm, 12pm-8.30pm. Share of the Saturday rota and 1 bank holiday a year.
Overview
Work alongside the lead vet and Clinical Nursing Manager to support the team of 6 RVNs and 2 PCA’s to deliver gold standard care.
Main Purpose & Goals
- Lead and deliver high-quality patient care.
- Provide direct line management to allocated members of the nursing team.
- Actively involved in recruitment and induction.
- Ensure accurate client and patient records.
- Uphold Clinical Standards & Quality Improvement.
- Contribute to financial health of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality patient care and perform general nursing duties.
- Ensure accurate clinical record keeping, including anaesthetic sheets, hospitalisation forms and notes.
- Maintain premises and patient areas to high standard, adhere to infection control protocols.
- Support delegation and team collaboration within the practice.
- Seek feedback and participate in quality improvement and audits.
- Engage in relevant CPD and share learnings with team.
- Lead through the Five Principles and Linnaeus behaviours, fostering motivation and team cohesion.
- Conduct performance conversations, HR procedural requirements, recruitment and induction of new staff.
- Manage well‑being of associates and absence processes.
- Drive an outstanding client experience: obtain consent, accurate estimates, update clients, influence NPS.
- Promote a culture of respect, collaboration, and engagement; implement ‘Just Culture’ and raise concerns appropriately.
- Stay compliant with regulatory, H&S, GDPR, and business policies.
- Understand and control costs, ensuring correct charging and reducing waste.
- Support stock management, marketing initiatives, and financial discussions where appropriate.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as an RVN in a lead or senior nursing role.
- Strong clinical knowledge and ability to perform nursing duties within qualification remit.
- Leadership and line‑management experience.
- Financial awareness and ability to contribute to budget discussions.
