V&C Associates has been retained by one of the UK's largest apparel suppliers, with group turnover in excess of £120 million, to find a Sales Account Manager for its Denim division. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role carries responsibility for optimising sales performance across the wholesale denim business β€” developing new accounts, growing existing ones, and leading the team that delivers them.

The successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of key retail and brand accounts, shape the strategic direction of those relationships, and drive sales and profitability through strong account management and team leadership. The role offers genuine line management responsibility and direct exposure to major international retailers and denim brands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations across all wholesale denim activity
  • Grow and manage a network of major retail and brand clients, identifying new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
  • Monitor and analyse KPIs to track account and team performance
  • Forecast wholesale denim performance in collaboration with the Commercial team
  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies
  • Maintain a strong commercial eye for denim trends, washes, fits, and fabrications across the category
  • Understand seasonal range planning across core, fashion, and premium denim
  • Work closely with merchandisers and buyers on margin management and open-to-buy optimisation
  • Lead, manage, and develop the sales and merchandising team, including mentoring junior managers
  • Oversee project delivery across client accounts, ensuring quality and timeliness
  • Manage and resolve conflicts with clients and factories professionally and constructively

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' sales experience within a denim-focused brand or supplier
  • Proven track record of driving sales performance and revenue growth in the wholesale denim market
  • Strong existing network of retail and brand contacts
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a commercial, results-driven approach
  • Experience selling via showroom, in-person meetings, phone, and email
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working under pressure with a strong focus on delivery
  • High attention to detail, well organised, and able to work independently
  • Genuine interest in and knowledge of denim, washes, and fabric development
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Factory and production exposure, ideally within denim manufacturing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
