V&C Associates are partnering with one of the UKβs most successful London design studios, seeking to appoint a Girlswear Designer to join their team of designers working with major global accounts. This key position involves developing and designing capsule collections, requiring a strong brand experience. As a Senior Designer, you will oversee the entire design process, from concept to finished product, delivering high-quality, fashionable designs aligned with market trends.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with the Head of Design to develop collections from conception through production.
- Conduct trend research, attend trade shows, and participate in trips for inspiration.
- Source fabrics, trimmings, and shapes; select color palettes, key shapes, fabrics, and looks for campaigns.
- Ensure sample development, create design specifications, and supervise modifications for production.
- Liaise with suppliers, buyers, and merchandisers for sample validation, purchasing, and production.
- Create and work with prints, graphics, and licenses.
- Maintain awareness of current fashion trends to inform design and ensure relevance.
- Communicate daily with suppliers and production teams, including those in the Far East, to align on designs and timelines.
- Work with Account Managers and buyers to build strong relationships and understand customer needs.
- Translate creative ideas into commercial designs suitable for mass market, aligning artistic elements with business goals.
- Travel as needed to the Far East and other production locations to foster relationships with factories and suppliers.
What you need:
- 5+ yearsβ experience in the industry with a supplier, brand, or retailer.
- Knowledge of trend materials and construction.
- Up-to-date with social, fashion, and emerging trends.
